This
tapestry is inspired from the hanging "Grotesque à fond jaune ou tabac d'Espagne".
Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer, largely inspired of Grotesque drawn by Bérain, is the
author of this model. The fantasy and the richness of this remarkable piece
was an introduction to the 18th century Art. It concerned an esthetical ignored
by the Goblins at this same time. Initially woven in 1688, it met a considerable
success and was still in production in 1732. One of the most significant original
pieces is today at the Metropolitan Museum.
